Changes for the concerts of the Lucerne Festival Orchestra on 21 and 24 August. For Yannick Nézet-Séguin who had to cancel due to illness, Yuja Wang, Gregory Ahss and Raphael Christ, as well as Jakub Hrůša will take over the musical direction.

Yannick Nézet-Séguin had to cancel the concerts with the Lucerne Festival Orchestra on 21 and 24 August due to illness. The Lucerne Festival Orchestra and the pianist Yuja Wang will perform without conductor on Saturday, 21 August: The concert masters Gregory Ahss and Raphael Christ as well as Yuja Wang will take over the musical direction. On Tuesday, 24 August, Jakub Hrůša will conduct the Lucerne Festival Orchestra. On 21 August, the piano concerto in D minor K. 466 by Wolfgang Amadé Mozart will be performed as planned with Yuja Wang. But the concert night will open with Mozart’s Ouverture to The Abduction from the Seraglio and close with Ludwig van Beethoven’s Symphony No. 7 in A major which was originally planned for 24 August. On 24 August, Jakub Hrůša will conduct the Prague Symphony D-Dur by Mozart and the Symphony No. 6 op. 60 by Antonín Dvořák.

“We deeply regret the cancellation of Yannick Nézet-Séguin, who is a close friend of the festival” says Michael Haefliger, Executive and Artistic Director of Lucerne Festival. “We are now looking forward to the new, exciting constellation this coming Saturday with Gregory Ahss, Raphael Christ and our ‘artiste étoile’ Yuja Wang. And next Tuesday, one of the most renowned conductors of the young generation, Jakub Hrůša, will give his debut with the Lucerne Festival Orchestra! We are very glad that he was willing and ready to take this conducting job at such short notice. We wish Yannick Nézet-Séguin a speedy recovery with all our heart.”
