The young 24 year old violinist, Linus Roth, born in Ertingen in Southern Germany and now based in Zurich, dazzled us on May 7th with his technical perfection and musicality. Performing with the A. Stradivari 'Dancla' violin, lent to him five years ago and displayed to the public after the concert, Roth himself chose the program based around Bartok's Sonata for solo violin.It is incomprehensible that in spite of the free entrance, a concert of this caliber, sponsored by Hazen and Negri, had only 80% of the seating capacity taken. The public of approximated 100 fortunate music lovers witnessed the result of Roth's decision to take up after ten years of maturing, the Bartok Sonata in the version of Menuhin, who commissioned this twentieth century masterpiece for solo violin.
