As part of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts' 50th anniversary season Galician bagpiper Cristina Pato will be performing From Air to Air by Osvaldo Golijov with Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble at the Guggenheim Bandshell-Lincoln Center (NY). The concert will be broadcasted as part of the Live from Lincoln Center PBS series and features music from China, Lebanon, India, Azerbaijan, Iran and Argentina. Cristina Pato is currently in New York recording and working on her fourth album as a solo bagpiper; she is also preparing the recording of the SOAS Project (with singer Rosa Cedrón and pianist Cristina Pato) and starting her European summer tour that includes Spain (Andalusia, Basque Country, Galicia), Portugal and France.
Cristina resides in New York City since 2004, when she decided to stop temporarily her professional career and focus in her academic career to pursue her doctoral degree with the support of Fundación Barrié de la Maza. A Doctor of Musical Arts from Rutgers University, Cristina is currently adjunct faculty at NJCU.
