According to the Spanish General Society of Authors (SGAE), statistics show that the number of people who attend classical music concerts in Spain has decreased during the last year. For performers of classical music the concept of job security is almost non-existent and not easy to achieve. Hence, it is ironic that the quality of classical music in Spain continues to improve, and as it does, supply increases. The luster of this marvellous and hermetic world cannot be sold, nor even given away. Initial attraction to classical music has to be pampered but once interest has been sown it lasts one for life. Statistics are not reality. They are measures of tendencies, numerical means in which individuals and role models do not count.
