The annual Göttingen Handel Festival is one of the most important festivals for Baroque music in the calendar. A particular feature of the festival is that it combines concerts with informative lectures by well-known scholars connected to an annual theme. This year the festival’s theme was 'The King shall rejoice': Händel und das Welfenhaus Hannover -focussing on the music Handel wrote for events involving the British royal family. The main events took place over the Pentecost weekend from 13th to 16th May.
