Some countries are highly adept at promoting their own works of art, literature and music in the international arena (France and the United States come to mind as examples). Sadly, Spain, with one of the world’s richest cultures, whose composers have produced a vast archive of beautiful and important music, has not received the attention such a musical treasure deserves. Until recently even highly educated and cultured individuals outside of the Spanish-speaking world were unaware of the great variety of Spanish music and often were not familiar with even the names of any but the most famous of Spanish composers.
Fortunately a flurry of recent recordings and publications has rapidly changed this situation. For example, the current CD recorded by Miguel Álvarez-Parejo is accompanied by a list of his discography and publications to date.…
